2011 Africa Games

The Africa Games are held every four years, with the next being held in Maputo, Mozambique in July 2011.

The competing countries are Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros & Mayotte, Congo, Congo (Zaire), Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawai, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Reunion, Rwanda, Saint Helena, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Spanish North Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Western Sahara, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

As a quarter of the world’s countries compete at these Games this is an opportunity we should seize.

ARI will lobby the organisers for the inclusion of Australian football as a demonstration sport. Combined with an information seminar, this would offer enormous exposure at relatively little cost.

ARI believes that South Africa versus an Aboriginal team would have the most impact.
