Aussie Rules Schools

With the support of the UK government, Aussie Rules UK (www.aussierulesuk.com) was established in London in April 2005.

The role of Aussie Rules UK is to promote and develop Australian football throughout the UK. It is targeting two main groups:

1. Adults – expats and locals, particularly mixed teams.

2. Schoolchildren – through its 'Aussie Rules Schools' program.

Two of the major aims in introducing Aussie Rules to the UK are to use its novelty appeal and focus on participation and fun to:

1. help combat the growing rise of obesity amongst children in the UK, and

2. help reduce the number of underprivileged children who get into trouble with the law - Kids in Sport are not in Court.

Many governments around the world are concerned about the above issues. Once Aussie Rules UK is firmly established, similar programs will be set up in other countries under the 'Aussie Rules' banner (e.g. 'Aussie Rules USA', 'Aussie Rules Zimbabwe' etc.)
