Development Managers

In order for Australian football to realise its true international potential there is no doubt that the increasing workload must be carried out by full-time personnel, as opposed to volunteers.

In conjunction with the AFL, ARI would like to identify regional funding opportunities, both in government and the private sector, to enable the creation of 6 full-time Development Managers for the following regions: Asia, Pacific, Europe, Africa, North America and South America.

The key responsibilities of each position would be to:

§          Liaise with all regional countries in order to develop the game within the region.

§          Identify opportunities to introduce the sport into new countries in the region.

§          Promote Australian football to local and regional media.

§          Lobby for the broadcast of AFL matches on free-to-air television.

§          Seek and gain the inclusion of Australian football in major games and events.

§          Coordinate accreditation opportunities for coaches, umpires, administrators and trainers.

§          Facilitate the translation of resources into various languages, as required.

§          Facilitate coaching and umpiring clinics, as required.

§          Determine requests for funding from the ARI Development Foundation.

§          Establish a Player Scholarship program with Australian schools and clubs.

§          Provide logistical support to any tours to the region.

§          Submit quarterly reports to ARI and the AFL.
