World Footy Jumper Day
Aussie Rules International (ARI) is pleased to announce that the inaugural World Footy Jumper Day will be held on 20 March, 2011.
The above date has been chosen as it is part of the Federal Government's Harmony Day program.
The 4th Australian Football Harmony Cup will also be held on this date, with teams from all over Melbourne competing. See www.harmonycup.com for more information.
As with the Harmony Cup, the aim of World Footy Jumper Day is:
1. to celebrate Melbourne's ethnic diversity and harmony, and
2. use the sport of Australian football, as Australia's only indigenous sport, to break down cultural and ethnic barriers.
National Jumpers have been created for each of the 200 countries in the world. They will be available for purchase from the ARI website very soon.
World Footy Jumper Day is a great opportunity to wear the colours of your country of origin with pride. Wearing your National Jumper on this day shows that, even though we may come from many different backgrounds, we are all Australians. Our love of the great Australian game is the glue that binds us all together.
