EU Cup
The power of the AFL 9s concept can be demonstrated by the EU Cup, which was created by ARI to give European countries the opportunity to play each other in a major tournament.
The EU Cup is played under the rules of 9-a-side football. The primary intention of this tournament is to showcase Aussie Rules with a reduction in the number of players, held on sporting fields that are readily found in nearly every corner of Europe; without any loss in the excitement, skill or quality of the 18-a-side version of our great game.
National teams that have competed at the EU Cup include Spain, Czech Republic, Finland, Croatia, Andorra, Iceland, Israel, Catalonia, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Austria, England, Sweden, Scotland, France and the Netherlands.
