Playing Rules
1. Playing FieldRegulation soccer field. The field shall be approximately 100m x 70m.
2. Ball
A soccer ball shall be used.
3. Teams
A. Teams shall consist of 9 players on the field and a maximum of 6 reserves.
B. Interchange of players may take place at any time.
C. Teams shall consist of 3 forwards, 3 centres, 2 backs and 1 goalkeeper.
D. At the start of play and after each goal, the centre players must line up in the centre circle.
E. To prevent congestion, the forwards and backs must line up in the penalty box at the start of play and after each goal.
F. Apart from (D) and (E) players can go anywhere on the field and there is no off-side.
4. Playing Time
2 x 20 minute halves.
5. Start of Play
A. The game shall be started by a ball-up between two players in the centre circle.
B. A player may not grab the ball at the ball-up and play on. They must knock or palm the ball and cannot play the ball again until it has been touched by another player.
C. After a goal, the ball is taken to the centre and restarted as in (A).
6. Disposal
A. The ball can be disposed of by kicking off the ground, kicking out of the hands or handballing. No throwing or heading the ball is allowed.
B. The ball can be moved forwards or backwards and there is no knock-on rule.
C. Players can not kick the ball off the ground if another player is attempting to pick the ball up with his hands (kicking in danger).
7. Out of Bounds
A. When the ball goes out of bounds by either foot or hand, the nearest opponent shall kick or handball the ball in.
B. If there is doubt as to which team forced the ball out of bounds, the umpire shall throw the ball up.
8. Corners
A. If the ball goes over the goal line after having been touched by either the goalkeeper or member of the defending team, a corner will result.
B. The player taking the corner must kick the ball back into play. This can be done by either kicking the ball off the ground or by kicking out of the hands.
9. Tackling
A. No tackling is allowed. When a player is touched by an opponent, he/she has a maximum of 3 seconds to dispose of the ball by handpassing or kicking. If the player fails to dispose of the ball within this period, possession will be awarded to the other team.
B. How much time the umpire allows a player to dispose of the ball depends on the circumstances and is solely at the discretion of the umpire.
C. If a player has had prior opportunity to dispose of the ball when touched, it is holding the ball and a turnover will occur.
10. Marking
Any player catching a ball directly from the kick of another player, provided the ball has travelled at least 10 metres, shall be awarded a mark.
11. Bouncing the Ball
Players must bounce the ball if they run more than 10 metres. A player in possession may bounce the ball only once.
12. Scoring
A. There are two scoring zones – inside the penalty box and outside the penalty box.
B. If you are outside the box you can score by kicking the ball into the goal. This score is worth 2 points.
C. If you are inside the box you can only score by handballing the ball into the goal. This score is worth 1 point.
D. You can still kick the ball inside the box (e.g. passing to a team-mate) but you can only score via a handball.
13. Penalties
A. If, in the opinion of the umpire, a player is about to score whilst in the penalty box, and a foul is committed against him, the umpire shall award a penalty to that player.
B. The penalty must be taken from the penalty spot, and the ball can be either kicked out of the hands or kicked off the ground.
C. Obviously there is no penalty for handball!
