The EU Cup is the European Championship of Australian football. The inaugural event was held in London in October 2005. Belgium defeated Sweden in the final.
The second EU Cup was held in Hamburg, Germany in September 2007. Sweden defeated Germany in the final.
The third EU Cup was held in Prague, Czech Republic in October 2008. England are the current European champions, having defeated Croatia in the final.
Wales, a strong rugby football nation is a very new country to Aussie Rules. Aussie Rules Wales formed in September 2005 and has expanded to several senior teams. The national team, Red Dragons, debuted in November 2007 to play against England.
Young Englishman Will Thursfield entered the AFL as a rookie following an outstanding junior career since arriving in Australia and is now held by many to be one of the best young defenders in Aussie Rules.
