Japan in upset win over Samoa

JAPAN caused the upset of the day defeating Samoa by 24 points– 8.7 (55) to 4.7 (31) in front of the largest crowd of the tournament.

Scores at half time were Japan 5.6 (36) leading Samoa 2.1 (13).

The young and fast Japanese side started brilliantly against Samoa, who didn't seem to have an answer to the pace of their opponents going into the second half.

In other games, Papua New Guinea defeated the Peace Team by 133 points – 20.20 (140) to the Peace Team 1.1 (7).

One of the favourites of the Cup, New Zealand, had the biggest win of the tournament so far in accounting for minnow India – 35.19 (229) to 0.0 (0).
