Kevin Sheedy
BREAKING DOWN BARRIERSA message from AFL great Kevin Sheedy.
Don't fence our game in! Australian Football has a wonderful opportunity and is in a great position to continue on its path of growth and development, both in Australia and internationally.
Over the past 12 months I have been involved as the AFL 150th ambassador, and in addition to promoting the game across Australia, I have visited four other countries to sell its potential. I went to Canada and the USA last October, South Africa in April and launched NAB AFL Auskick in Singapore, and the passion for the game was clearly evident.
To have 1000 overseas visitors come to Melbourne and Warrnambool to participate in the 2008 International Cup is as exciting as it is important for the future of our game.
This event is an opportunity, in the 150th year of the game, to celebrate and open our minds up...let's think about where our game will be in 10, 20, 50 years' time.
For those participating in 2008, thank you for your courage and dedication to take the game forward all over the world.
Good luck, please continue to spread the word and keep on knocking that fence down!

'The smaller the world gets and the more I see other games such as soccer, rugby and American football, the more I am convinced that we have the greatest game on the planet and we should be sharing it with the rest of the world.'
