South Africa Lions
The Lions (formerly known as the Buffaloes) are South Africa's national team
They first competed in the 2002 Australian Football International Cup in Melbourne, Australia, finishing in 11th place.
A much improved Buffaloes outfit (reflecting the development of junior footy in South Africa) finished 8th at the 2005 International Cup.
In February 2007 they travelled to Australia and played a number of matches, including the curtain-raiser to the Essendon v Aboriginal All-Stars match in Darwin.
On 14 April, 2007 the Buffaloes played a historic match against Australia's AIS Under 17 squad at North West Cricket Stadium in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
Later in that year, the Buffaloes defeated the touring Australian Convicts side.
In 2008 they were re-named the Lions and finished third at the International Cup, a fantastic achievement.
