New Zealand Hawks
The national team is now known as the New Zealand Hawks, due to the support of the Hawthorn Football Club.
Formerly there were known as the New Zealand Falcons.They have built up a great rivalry with Papua New Guinea since 1995.
New Zealand were Silver medallists in the Arafura Games in Darwin in 1995, 1997 and 1999 (losing all 3 finals to PNG), and finished third in the inaugural Australian Football International Cup in 2002.
In 2005 New Zealand defeated PNG in the final of the International Cup in Melbourne.
In 2008 the Kiwis finished second at the International Cup, losing to PNG in the final.
